For Your Mind and Body
Mental Health Yoga
Therapeutic support for individuals, groups, or schools.
When we feel overwhelmed, the mind and body can disconnect, leaving us anxious, shut down, reactive, or stuck. Mental health yoga helps rebuild that connection through presence, guided awareness of the body, and slowly developing tolerance for the many emotional discomforts we carry in our bodies. In time, this fosters emotional regulation, resilience, and a calmer, more balanced state.
Support We Offer
Mental health yoga can be adapted for many needs and experiences, including:
-
Anxiety is your body’s natural alarm system, often triggered by stress. Yoga helps calm the nervous system, build awareness of triggers, and create healthier responses, reducing reactivity and restoring balance over time.
-
Depression often shows up as disconnection, which is the nervous system’s protective response of shutdown or numbing out. Mental health yoga gently helps build tolerance for feelings, fosters self-empathy and compassion, and helps develop an internal sense of safety and security. With this practice, you begin to break the cycle of low mood.
-
Trauma can disrupt your sense of safety and connection with self, others, and the world. Through awareness, understanding, and compassionate body-based practices, mental health yoga supports a slow and safe way to reconnect the mind and body. Over time, it builds tolerance for the body’s signals of threat, and allows you to rebuild trust within yourself and your environment.
-
Kids and teens often feel emotions in their bodies before they can express them in words. Yoga helps young people connect to their emotions, learn about the mind-body connection, and develop healthy ways to cope with big feelings.
-
For some, yoga is also a pathway to meaning and self-discovery. We integrate mindfulness and self-awareness practices to support balance, curiosity, and to deepen your connection with yourself and the world around you.
-
Sound healing uses instruments and vibration to help the nervous system shift into deep rest. This can reduce stress, improve sleep, ease physical tension, and promote overall well-being by giving the body space to reset and heal.
What to Expect
Sessions are gentle, guided, and always adapted to your comfort and needs.
-
Every session begins with creating a sense of safety. Your counsellor will guide you through breathing, grounding, and simple movements to help you reconnect with your body and regulate stress in a safe, supportive environment.
-
Unlike fitness yoga, this practice is about awareness and connection, not performance. Yoga builds capacity to tolerate discomfort, develop self-observation, and create a healthier relationship between your body, mind, and emotions.
-
Mental health yoga works directly with the nervous system. It helps regulate stress responses, reduce anxiety and depression, and foster self-compassion. Over time, these practices shift how you respond to challenges, helping you feel calmer, more resilient, and more connected.
Mental Health Workshops
We offer group workshops for schools, workplaces, and community organizations. These sessions combine education about the mind-body connection with practical tools for stress management, relaxation, and emotional regulation, helping groups foster resilience, awareness, and connection.
